Loneliness

So Tiff and I went to Royal Scot on Sat to watch the Pistons play. Well we got to drinkin’ and eatin’ (I ate waaaay too much) and Keri joined us. With some peer pressuring, I busted out the laptop and we had 2 writing exercises that we did… The first one, as you’ll see below, is the classic ‘write for 5 minutes, hide everything you wrote except for the last line,’ and then the next person goes… Well here it is.

Kyle doesn’t want to do this… smoke wraps around his glass and drifts into his eyes. His stomach is flip-flopping, his intestines feel like they are going to explode. He can’t possibly go through with this. Damn it- he needs the money… he needs the money… he needs the money… the weight of the metal in his jacket – heavy in his soul. Once he does it- everything is different. He officially joins the realm of the dark side of  the moon- the dark side of humanity..could he really do it? Could he really kill him? Could he really take a life for no good reason. I mean, look at her.  She is sitting there across the room, unsuspecting.  She is laughing with her friends, sipping from her glass of pinot noir.  She doesn’t know that they are plotting their revenge, and that he is the ring leader.  Is this really the last resort? 

She didn’t know that those documents held the information that would reveal his true identity.e thought that there was some type of haze in the room as he fished around in the drawer of his desk. The sunlight had kicked up all of the dust in the old office. He hadn’t been in this room for years but now seemed like the right time. In the drawer he pulled out a map to a hide out that his father had in upper Minnesota. He was going to need it now. He closed the drawer and took a sigh. The police would be here soon if that woman could connect the dots.  He had committed a heinous crime and the only way to get away from the consequences was to flee.  He was determined to get away and if only he throw off the police, he would be scott free. He picked up his pace and woven his way through the house making his way to the garage. When he opened the door he found an FBI agent in the garage….He was wrapped in cellophane… grey, blue, red… the colors swirled in his mind. Holy shit.. grey.. he was dead. That crazy fucking bitch finally lost her mind. They must have found the lab – she shot him. A tsunami of panic washed over him- he felt like he was sinking deeper into a tar quick sand. The florescent light got brighter- the smell of death, gunpowder, fear and piss wafted across the room and settled in his stomach. His head the concrete floor. He woke up to water dripping, dripping, dripping across his cheek-  what the fuck?

The room is dark.  The only sound he can hear is that of running water.  He slowly picked his head up off the ground, but his vision was blurred.  “Where the fuck am I?” he wondered, no sooner realizing that he has seen this place before.  He could just sense it.  It smelled familiar, damp and moldy.  But his head hurt, and where the fuck was that water coming from? His  heart was pacing at a crazy rate and he could feel himself starting to slip in and out of consciousness. He had to get out of this place.

            Kyle looked up and saw the water pouring in from the basement ceiling. His eyes flashed around the room looking for a way out . He notice a stairwell that seemed as though it was the way he needed to go. He started to move but saw that his leg was hooked on something. He lifted a board off as the water level began to rise past the cuffs of his pants. Unable to keep focus and get his leg free, Kyle screamed for help. He knew that if anyone found him down here he would definitely be fucked.

A shadow crossed through the water and he realized that he would be dead soon.

The next thing we did was have each person write a crazy sentence and then pass it. Great thing is that you cant tell who wrote what….

The outhouse was rank, especially when it tipped over on me.  It didn’t help that I hadn’t cleaned my ear wax in over a month. That peanut butter hadn’t been helping with the itch either. I wiped the turd off of my face and decided to figure a way out of this.  But the idea of peanut butter has got me wanting a pb & j like nobody’s business. I doubt Angel would be wanting to still give me head now that I smelled like a dying hippo, unless I did something fast.  Angel was the finest tranny- crack whore this side of Memphis and I hate when she (or is it he?) rejects me. But who is he/she to be judgemental?—I’m not the one with a hairy third nipple growing out of my armpit. Besides, its hard to get a mount when your in a tent and your $500 is puking from SoCo. It reminds me of the time that I caught Bobo jacking off in the walk in freezer- all red and Buddha belly quivering.  I’m quivering now, because I just realized that I’m covered in shit and, now that I think about it, it isn’t the first time. There was the time on the cruise that I ended up with drunk women running naked through the halls crying, but that was a totally different situation. Have you ever had a shit the size of a brick- I think one just brushed my thigh. Off my one leg that is—the other I lost in an unfortunate incident with a weed wacker. Leg that is- with all this shit piled around me and all I can think of is fucking Peanut butter.

Perfect timing, Marcus.  I’m down, and I really need to keep pushing my writing, because I no longer have a teacher in a workshop setting due dates for me.  I’m excited.  This is exactly the push I need to develop a predictable and consistent writing discipline.

okay, okay… peer pressure worked.  I am in–on the challenge of writing every day, because it is definately a creative outlet that has proven good for me in the past, and I think I need to continue to pursue it.  50,000 words freaks me out a little bit, so I just won’t think about that.
